MAKIKO HARRIS PRESENTS A BOLD UNDERWATER FILM AND MULTIMEDIA EXHIBITION EXPLORING FATE, FEMINISM, AND THE POWER OF CONNECTION

Towering needle sculptures, dancers entwined in brilliant red rope, and a captivating underwater setting converge in Needle Dance, the latest work by American-Japanese artist Makiko Harris.
This five-minute conceptual art film premieres from 17 February to 2 March at art’otel London Hoxton. The film, along with a corresponding exhibition of sculptures and two-dimensional artworks, is co-presented by art’otel Hoxton and Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, which represents Harris.
Needle Dance was created in collaboration with:
- Director Peter Gray, renowned for his imaginative image-making and contributions to editorial shoots for titles such as Italian, American, and British Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
- Costume Designer Deborah Milner, noted for her sculptural and innovative couture, also consulted for Alexander McQueen realising some of his most iconic showpieces.
- Composer and Executive Producer Carlos Basilisco, who brings his expertise to the film's ambitious score. The violin and percussion composition, which accompanies the film, was co-composed and performed by Harris and Basilisco.
